How much solar protection do you have to use? Most north -Americans do not apply almost as much as they should do

SPF Nation? A new survey shows that we are not in skin protection unless we are on vacation.

The North 2,000 -Americans’ survey revealed less than half (41%), which had a sun protection more than 60 days a year, most only the door for less than one fifth of the entire calendar year.

Thirteen percent does not usually carry sun protection.

However, seven out of ten claimed to have a good routine of Suncare is important for them.

The source of discrepancy can be based on whether people are on vacation.

Four out of ten better take care of their skin when traveling than at home, and almost half (48%) said that sun protection is the first product they incorporate into holiday skin routines.

Composed by Melanoma Research Alliance and performed by Talker Research, the study found why it is apparently easier for people to take more care of their skin while on vacation: for 36%, it is more relaxing and have more time to do it.

During 34%, they are more exposed to the holiday sun than when they are at home (six hours a day, compared to five, on average).

An additional 26% said it is simply easier to remember applying sun protection to the holidays than when they are at home.

Solar protection was found more often on the face (78%), arms (71%) and legs (62%). But areas such as the hair line (19%), the lips (19%) and the eyelids (14%) were less likely to apply -SPF.

And as the preferences go, 52% said they prefer a lotion formula for their SPF, opposed to 39%, which prefers a sprayer or an aerosol option.

Respondents also like that their SPF formula is clear (26%) instead of white (12%) or dyed (5%).

Only 1% said that chemical solar filters prefer, but users may not realize that it is the common term for non -mineral solar filters.

“It doesn’t matter if you are on vacation or home, it is equally important to integrate SPF into your daily skin routine,” said Dr. Marc Hurlbert, CEO of Melanoma Research Alliance. “ Remembering sunblock on the beach or out of a hot day can be easy, but they are complicated and less expected exhibitions like when traveling on a plane or car, when they sit near a window in your home or when skiing or snowboarding on trips that people do not think. The easiest way to keep the sun is to bring SPF daily. ”

The study also found that people often use a lower SPF while at home than on vacation.

While 55% of people carry at least SPF 30 or more on vacation, only 44% do the same in their daily lives.

And being a father has some of his own impacts on the Suncare routines.

Parents were a bit more likely to better care for their skin while on vacation than at home.

And 71% admitted that they are more vigilant to apply sun protection to their children than themselves.

Four out of five parents make sure that their children understand the importance of protecting their skin from the sun or not.

Parents surveyed said that they were confident that their son properly applied solar protection to themselves at the age of 12 and 71% would trust their children to put themselves sunscreen without reminding them to do so.

“As the SPF increases, the relative protection of solar burns also increases. A sun protection labeled as SPF 15 will protect the skin of 93% of UVB rays and 30 SPF blocks around 97%.

The larger the SPF, the more protection it offers up to about SPF 50.

That is why we recommend that everyone wear SPF 30+ daily, “said Hurlbert.
